MEET THE DOULA

My Story

My work as a doula began in the 90s when I supported my best friend during her birth. I trained as a birth doula in 2000 and shadowed a group of doulas for about a year. In addition, I spent 10 years working as a postpartum doula and newborn/infant care specialist. I chose not to certify with a larger doula agency as I did not want the agency governing my work. In 2014, I completed training as a certified medical assistant. Then went on to work for a chiropractor and a pediatrician for 2 years. I also spent a few years working with children and families experiencing hardships, while continuing to serve my doula clients. I have a love for learning and have continued my education becoming trained in a variety of areas. These areas include baby-led weaning, safe sleep practices, car seat safety, and lactation.

My husband and I married in 2012, and together we have 7 children and 2 grand children. When we married 2 of his bonus children were living on their own. We have raised the other 5 in our home together. Our children range in age from 26 to 4 and they are the center of our lives.

My Philosophy

God created the world and everything in it, He is the center and should be glorified in all our works. My hope and desire is for everyone I serve to see Christ in me and feel His love through me.

I believe God made a perfect world and sin changed that. There is a time and a place for modern medicine. However, naturalistic and wholistic healing is where I gravitate when coaching families through their fertility journey.

God designed a woman’s body to carry and birth babies. Through His design, women are capable of birthing with little to no medical intervention. I believe every birth is unique and personal. Every family needs to be supported in having the birth they choose. The style of birth, whether hospital, home, or C-section, is a personal decision that belongs to the family who is bringing life into the world.

I support families during their birth journey no matter what it may look like. This is your time and your experience, I am here to support you. My clients have a VIP experience when they choose me as their doula. I believe a client chooses their doula based on a number of factors. They want and need the doula they chose at their birth. Therefore, I structure my business in a way that I am able to attend every birth myself. I do not call on a backup doula. When you hire me, you get me.

My Training

Fertility Coach

I spent 8 years working with a team of fertility specialists and Maternal Fetal Medicine doctors along with independent evidence based research.

Child Birth Educator

As a child birth educator, I use training from my fertility and birth doula research to create and teach my own independent curriculum.

Birth Doula

I began studying as a birth doula through Child Birth International and continued my studies working with a group of doulas for about a year before venturing out on my own.

Postpartum Doula

My postpartum training began in the 90's when I focused my high school and early college years on child development with a focus on newborn care and postpartum specialties. I continued learning through life experience and staying current on evidence based research.

Lactation Counselor

I have worked and trained extensively with lactation specialists through the last 5 years to expand my knowledge and experience.
